Karl Lagerfeld's Paris Apartment, 1973

Welcome to Karl Lagerfeld's Paris apartment he lived in in 1973! Located in Saint-Germain-des-Près, near the Church of Saint-Sulpice, it sat in an 18th century building designed by Servandoni, who was also architect of the church's facade. Note on the second picture showing Karl's bedroom: The impressive room features an ample ceiling height of 5 meters and is exclusively furnished with designer pieces from the 1920s. Karl quotes "Sleeping here feels like in a fairy tale." Fashion fun fact: Model Jiji Johnson is wearing a vintage Lanvin velvet and lamé coat from 1932. Check out the details by supersizing the images!

Fashionable Flicks - Charade (1963) with Audrey Hepburn in Givenchy

The fabulous thriller-comedy "Charade" from 1963 is not only worth seeing for its pacy, twisty plot and George Clooney Cary Grant but also for the uber-chic costumes Hubert de Givenchy created for main actress and muse Audrey Hepburn. We see monochromatic looks (leopard print counts as monochromatic, of course) consisting of straight dresses and coats with oversized buttons, styled to perfection with matching accessories - long leather gloves, small (reptile) leather bags, flat shoes and to-die-for sunglasses, not to forget all those stunning headpieces such as pillbox hats and knotted scarves. Refined elegance, very early 60s, yet very timeless and still relevant in its minimalistic approach. Get the movie "Charade" here.

Impressions from Paris - Haute Couture Collections Spring/Summer 1966

Balmain.

Photo: Carter.
